Athena is the goddess of war. She also helped in the Trojan war on the Greeks' side. The picture is of the greek war.
The dove represents the renewal of life. This is why it represents Athena.
Athena's statue has a spear and helmet because she is a goddess of war.
The owl represents wisdom. It is a symbol of Athena because she is seen as wise.

1.)Athena was born from her father’s head. When her mother got pregnant, her father, Zeus, feared it was the powerful son that would take his place. He ate his wife. She began building armor for Athena. From all the clanging in his head, he told a god to chop his head open, then Athena came out fully grown.
2.) She had lots of half brothers and sister's including: Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Hephaaestus, Hebe, Hermes, Persephone, the Fates, the Graces, the Muses, Tityus. The number would be even greater if I included all of the children from her father's affairs with mortals.
3.) Athena is the goddess of many things. Wisdom, courage, inspiration, civilzation, warfare, strength, strategy, the arts, crafts, justice, and skill.
4.) Athena's weaknesses are she is too ruled by her head and out of touch with her emotions and femine side. Unapproachable and lacking in compassion.
5.) Since Athena was born without a mother -- sprung from her father's head -- in an important murder trial, she decided that the role of the mother was less essential in creation than the role of the father.
6.) In the tale of the Judgment of Paris (son of the Trojan King Priam), Athena was one of the two goddesses who lost the beauty contest to Aphrodite. This is part of the reason Athena sided with the Greeks in the Trojan War.
7.) During the Trojan war, Athena sided with the Greeks in battle. But, she then attacked their ships with a storm. This was because they failed to punish Oilean Ajax for violating her Trojan shrine.

Once showing anger, Athena challanged a woman named Arachne to a weaving contest, since Arachne always boasted about being the best weaver.Athena wove a scene showing the contest between her and Poseidon over Athens. Arachne, in her vanity, wove a scene of Zeus in trouble with his many wives. Athena became furious and burned the tapestry down along with Arachne. Later on, she regretted it, and turned Arachne into a spider so that she would weave her beautiful designs forever.
10.) Athena got the city of Athens by a contest with Posiden. He had given them a spring, but it was salt water and wasn’t much use. Athena gave them an olive tree which produced wood, olives, and many other things. They named the city after her and worshipped her.
